Inspirations from a Swedish cottage

May 28th, 2009

I’ve had it! We’ve got to get rid of all that terrible vinyl siding that’s suffocating the cottage. These beautiful photos of a Swedish cottage built by PS Arkitektur may just be the inspiration we need to get thinking about the exterior of our little cottage.

So black might not be the most beachy colour, but it’s very striking against the snow.

We had already decided to order metal lettering like this except in a bright red, but seeing it here in white may change our minds.

We love the plywood paneling…maybe for our kitchen wall?

This kitchen cabinet set up is similar to what we’ll be doing. We wish we could have a window, but it’s along an inside wall.

  1. i love that plywood. i think it looks so killer with white walls and those white washed floors.

I keep trying to figure out a fun place to install some finished plywood.
I think I may make a headboard for just a touch of it in the bedroom.

  2. I love the look of the plywood… running horizontally like that is great. the proportions with the 2 door cabinet and squat window are perfect.

I know this might sound ‘hokey’ but could the following be done well…
…could you do the same idea and frame a ‘faux’ window beneath… a beautiful photo with lots of depth of whatever greenery would suit your environment?
(not in the sense that you would be trying to fool anyone that it was a real window, more a great spot for a piece of art).

your place is looking amazing btw!
