Thrifting with mom

February 2nd, 2009

We’ve found a willing participant in our obsession with collecting: mom.

We decided to email her a few pictures of some of the things we’ve been on the hunt for, and she came back at us with this great Dansk sauce warmer she found for a mere 3 dollars!

She found this stunning vase at the Salvation Army for 6 dollars. It’s a West German vase by “Bay”, but it’s a shape we’ve never seen before. It looks exactly like a wicker basket but it has a beautiful black glazed interior.

Have you ever been watching an item on Ebay, only to have the seller remove it unexpectedly and you’re left wondering if you’ll ever find another item like it? Well that is exactly what happened to us while watching this Nymolle plate from Denmark. I just took it as a loss until I was surprised on christmas eve. My mom had just made Juli open up one of her gifts (the vase above) when she ran off to grab something for me from another room. She didn’t know that we would like it so she didn’t even bother wrapping it. It was that exact plate plus the matching juice cups that I didn’t even know existed!
