John Pawson’s home in Livingetc

October 4th, 2010

I’m sure a lot of you have picked up the newest issue of Livingetc and you were probably as surprised as I was to see John Pawson’s beautiful masterpiece of a home featured as the “House of the month”.

It’s a rare candid look into the Pawson’s home from a decorative point of view. Or lack there of. The Pawson’s really don’t like having too much “stuff”. Or what John Pawson lovingly refers to as “distractions”.

After 13 years the Pawson family proves that a minimalist lifestyle is very possible, and their home is just as warm and inviting as the rest of the interiors commonly featured in UK interior magazines.

It’s wonderful to see that all of the furniture he didn’t design himself is from Denmark!

  1. I haven’t seen this yet but kind of strange they would feature a house that has been shown in so many magazines and books for years. Still, very nice to see. Definitely, one of my favorite all time houses.

  2. I think the cool thing about the feature, and why I was so excited to see it was because Minimalism isn’t necessarily the most accessible aesthetic in most interior design magazines. Sure it turns up in a lot of architecture books but the mainstream decorating audience doesn’t really get to see it. I’ve read too many comments from people that say minimalist houses are cold and boring, but these comments stem from fear and a lack of understanding. Hopefully these images will resonate with the Livingetc audience and turn them on to the brilliant architecture of John Pawson.
